The Minnesota Peace Project is committed to using dialog rather than debate in its advocacy work with members of Congress. This video is a demonstration of the differences between the techniques of the two communication practices.

Arriving at a meeting with a prepared agenda and the intention to vigorously defend our position typically results in an unproductive debate. By structuring the conversation as an exchange of information and perspectives with the goal of building mutual understanding, it is more likely that we will listen to and learn from each other.
